Not sure what the difference is between resize and scale? In 6D™ Embroidery / Extra , Resize can be found on the Home tab. In the 5D™ and 4D™ software, Resize can be found on the upper toolbar. To switch between Resize and Scale simply click Resize.
The handles on the embroidery selection show when Resize or Scale is selected. In the 6D™ and 5D™ software there are blue handles for resize, and white handles for scale.
In the 4D™ software, the handles are hollow for resize and solid black for scale, otherwise the function is the same. Change the size of the selected embroidery using free resize or with the mouse. Alternatively, use Modify Design in 6D™, or go to the Edit tab to set the exact size in 4D™ or 5D™.
Resize changes the size of the embroidery while retaining constant density. Scale changes the size of the embroidery while retaining constant stitch count. The design is from the Flower folder in Samples. The center design has been scaled 20%. The right design has been resized 20%.
Notice that the stitch count for the scaled design stays the same while the resized version has more stitches to maintain the density. You might want to use scale when stitching out on a different weight fabric, for example to produce less dense stitching when making a design larger or denser stitching when making it smaller.

You can bring a background in to see what your design will look like on that background item. Choose from over 2400 garment, fabric and quilt block backgrounds. The Background Wizard loads a previously saved background or walks you through adding a new background for your project.
Once you load the background you can move it around on the screen or fade or brighten the image while you audition your embroideries. In 6D™ Embroidery Extra the Wizard can be found on the View tab, and the background is also shown in Life View. The Background Wizard is also in 5D™ Embroidery Extra, and there are similar features in 4D™ Vision. The background can be printed in both 6D™ and 5D™.
Through the 6D™ / 5D™ Design Creator Wizard you can load a background picture into the Draw Window. Choose from the 375 clipart pictures included, or use your own image. When the Wizard finishes, the picture is loaded as a background. You can use this picture to design over in the Draw window with vector drawing tools that are converted automatically to stitches.

You can view your finished quilt without sewing a stitch on the frame or the embroidery machine with 5D™ QuiltDesign Vision! Once you have created your quilting designs for the blocks, borders, corners, and sashings, QuickLink to the Vision module.
The Wizard steps you through the process to add a photo or image of a quilt, block, or fabric. You can also load a previously saved quilt, block or fabric. Once the Wizard finishes, load your quilting designs with View Quilting Designs and/or load embroidery designs with View Embroidery Designs onto the quilt.
After moving your designs into position, you can see your finished layout in Realistic Mode . Print the layout with each quilting design enclosed in a box showing the left-lower and right-upper corners, together with its name label and an indication of whether it has been scaled. The printout shows each embroidery in a box with its name label and an indication of whether it has been flipped or rotated. The background is faded so the name labels and designs can be seen easily.
